Mahatma Gandhi called these people 'Haridan'; they are cattle herders who came to the Kutch from Rajasthan.
The woman are famous for their embroidered clothes; the men weave cotton and wool and make goat and camel hide
products which the women decorate with multicolored threads.

 

 

 

Jat

Fakirani JAT people living in the Kutch came from Iran 500 years ago in search of new grazing pasture. The women are famous for their mirror inset embroidered dresses and some wear nose rings so large that they have to be held up by a braid of hair from the forehead. They are muslim and women live a very restricted life.
